Special winter tire for e-bikes for more safety in slippery conditions
Thanks to the high-grip sipe tread pattern and the special winter tyre compound, this premium tire offers plenty of grip on slippery or snow-covered roads as well as on cold and wet surfaces. Continental Top CONTACT Winter II Premium has been developed by Continental's experts especially for e-bikes (even fast e-bikes) and is a reliable companion through the cold season.
The breaker is an insert under the tread of the tire to protect it from cuts or stitches. A Vectran Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breakers without negatively affecting the rolling resistance. Vectran is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber with a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran is spun from the melted liquid polymer Vectra and further processed to a multi-fiber yarn. Spider silk, and thus Vectran as well, has an enormous tensile strength at lowest weight.
The resistance is proven by many applications of Vectran: Retaining lines for astronauts, spinnaker sails, deep sea cables, cut-resistant clothing. Vectran can be found wherever extreme durability is required. The Vectran fiber has a tensile strength five times higher than steel, is fatigue-resistant and therefore extremely durable. Exactly the important properties to be used as puncture protection in a Continental Top tire.
ECO test label
Tires with the Continental ECO logo benefit from over 100 years of experience in the development of moped and motorcycle tires. Optimized and recommended for e-bikes up to 25 km/h, they guarantee low rolling resistance and good puncture protection thanks to their particularly high-quality construction. The durability has been specially tested on e-bikes to counteract premature wear caused by the additional driving force. Beyond that several models like the Top CONTACT winter II Premium possess the ECE-R 75 test mark, which permits the employment also at fast E-Bikes to 50 km/h.
Tires marked with the dynamo symbol have a special tread pattern in the sidewall and are particularly suitable for use with accompanying dynamos. The dynamo runs more smoothly and does not slip even in wet conditions. Depending on the tire model, the design of the dynamo knurling can vary.
